Planet Bee is a social enterprise funded by MIT Sandbox which seeks to limit deforestation in the Amazon by working with indigenous communities to foster beekeeping as an alternative income source. Meliponiculture promotes natural biodiversity, reduces slash-and-burn agriculture, and produces honey with multiple health benefits which can be sold at high market values.
