Femmepathy is an ongoing project which utilizes empathy-building technologies to reduce online hate and misogyny, which transitively prevents incidences of real-world gendered violence.
The latest iteration of Femmepathy uses 360 video capture and choose-your-own-adventure storytelling in both VR and accessible web interfaces like Youtube to create an immersive, interactive representation of scenarios faced daily by women around the world. A World Without Gendered Violence
Femmepathy seeks to build a future where no female-identifying or nonbinary individual has to live in fear simply for existing as they are. Rates of femicide and extremist misogyny attacks are increasing around the globe, but the onus should not be on women to protect themselves from aggression. Instead, we can build empathy which spans the gap between genders and address hate at its origins.
